College and career readiness begins in elementary school and takes on increased importance in Middle School.  Providing academic rigor, along with passion-based learning, has been a key to our success in placing students into premier High Schools throughout New York City.

Discover PS/MS 188, The Island School

Located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, PS/MS 188, The Island School, serves 450 Pre-K to 8th graders.  Our philosophy is one of passion-based learning, where students learn best when they are given choice as to the themes and tools they use to explore our world.

The New York City Department of Education has designated The Island School a Showcase School. Among other best practices, visitors can learn about our Community School Model wherein we are open from 8AM to 6PM and offer families health services, a robust afterschool enrichment program, and a nationally recognized Makerspace.
